Stage Fright - Overcome Performance Nerves Fear of Public Speaking – New Training Course to Tackle ‘Hidden Problem’ High Performance Training has launched a new course designed to overcome the fears many people have about public speaking. This is an issue largely ignored in mainstream executive training, yet it affects many business people, professionals, and administrators. Its impact, while difficult to quantify, is measured in lost sales, missed opportunities, and poor public image. ‘Stage Fright – Overcome Performance Nerves’ blends communication skills and clinical psychology to eliminate nervousness, overcome anxiety, and instil confidence in those called upon to make a public address – anything from speaking up at meetings, to a team brief, a sales pitch or a keynote speech. Underpinning the course’s effectiveness is the concept that stage fright is a conditioned response, which can be overcome through effective communication skills and the use of clinically developed psychological techniques. The course is designed and presented by Michael Comyn, one of Ireland’s foremost media and communications specialists; and Rhoda Draper (B.A. Psych, Trinity College Dublin), Dip. C.H. TFT. Dx., a qualified psychologist, counsellor and clinical hypno-therapist. Loretto Mara, Managing Director of High Performance Training, says the workshop is unique in Ireland and is distinct from other programs on public speaking, in that its exclusive focus is on addressing the fear associated with speaking up, rather than on teaching presentation skills.
