Radio and TV Interview Skills
Media interest in the business world is at an all time high, and the net cast by television and radio producers, researchers, and interviewers is widening all the time, taking in even small enterprises that previously might have been overlooked. However, this means that many who, themselves in the media spotlight, are not ready or prepared for the experience. In the most benign of circumstances, this means an opportunity for great (free) publicity is lost. In the worst-case scenarios, the fall-out can be too dire even to consider.
High Performance believes that, with stakes this high, nothing should be left to chance, and has devised its Radio and TV Interview Skills course specifically with the needs of business people in mind. Participants learn to face the camera or microphone with confidence, by knowing in advance the needs of the medium, the priorities set by broadcast journalists, and the tips and skills that ensure a measured, calm, and authoritative interview. Also, one-on-one interviews with a professional broadcaster show participants how to deal with media crises, handle awkward questions, identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and use their own personal style to maximum advantage. High Performance Managing Director, Loretto Mara, says television and radio are the most influential media of all. “The expansion in programming and in the number of broadcasting organisations means that these media have become an integral part of Irish business life, and no organisation should be without the skills necessary to engage productively with them,” she says.
